Technical Diving : Decompression Divers at the descent line

TDI Trimix Diver Technical Diving Course at TecEvolution Thailand, Koh Chang

TDI Trimix Diver Course, Why ?

As your motivation to explore progresses you will find that you may want to go deeper to dive that wreck that is part of history or that cave system that you have read so much about.  One of the major limiting factors of going deeper is narcosis.

This course provides the training required to competently and safely utilise breathing gases containing Helium for dives that require staged decompression, utilising Nitrox and/or Oxygen mixtures during decompression to a maximum depth of 60msw.

In previous courses you will have learnt that Nitrogen is reduced in the breathing mix by adding Oxygen. The downside is that the depth is reduced because of the possibility of CNS Oxygen Toxicity.

Simply, by adding Helium, the narcotic effect of the breathing mix is lowered while keeping the Oxygen values in an acceptable range. Helium has almost no narcotic effect on the human body and is reasonably easy to obtain thereby making it the logical choice for deeper diving, safely.

Diving at the TDI Extended Range or TDI Trimix Diver level requires discipline. Expect your adventure to be a challenge!

This course is well suited to be undertaken in conjunction with the TDI Extended Range course

What do I need to start a TDI Trimix Diver Course ?

If you do not meet any of these pre requisites yet but want to go trimix technical diving, consider enrolling a TDI Advanced Nitrox diver course or a TDI Decompression Procedures course or better, signing up for an all inclusive traineeship package.

What will I do during that TDI Trimix Diver Course ?

While taking the Trimix Diver course your TDI Instructor will teach you how to plan and execute dives utilizing as little as 18 percent oxygen and diving to maximum depth of 60 m/200 feet with a blend of helium appropriate for the planned depth. The course covers topics and skills like
  • Dive team planning
  • Gas matching
  • Cylinder labeling
  • Surface marker deployment
  • Equipment configuration
  • Thermal protection options

Where can I go from there ?

Graduates will be qualified to enrol in:

What will I need ?

You will need the TDI Trimix Diver Crew Pack, which includes student manual, planning slate and checklist slate, (this crewpack is not included in TecEvolution Thailand Course Prices).
You will also need a bottom timer or computer (ideally a multi gas computer), a liftbag, and a reel (all of these are included in TecEvolution All Inclusive Traineeship Packages)

How Much Will This Cost ?

Equipment rental (if required) on the top of the price of the course. You also need to buy TDI training materials, a bottom timer or multi gas computer, a liftbag, and a reel if you don't have any (these are included in TecEvolution All Inclusive Traineeship Packages), and to pay for your gases (check out the price of the fills here). Luckily for you, TecEvolution is a trimix gas blending facility offers the cheapest Nitrox and Helium fills in Koh Chang to its students.
