TDI Mixed Gas CCR Diver Course, Why ?

The TDI Mixed Gas CCR course (certification depends on unit/electronics used) is your next step into closed circuit rebreather diving and with the addition of helium as a diluent gas, it is your opportunity to explore a little deeper. Using the latest in technology CCR’s maximize your gas supply and provide the optimum breathing gas for any depth by maintaining a constant partial pressure of oxygen (PPO2).

The course is a unit specific course. At TecEvolution Technical Dive Centre, we own the two most popular units on the market, The closed Circuit Rebreathers AP Diving Vision Electronics Evolution (Latest evolution of the most famous rebreather ever, the ex Buddy Inspiration) and the Innerspace System Megalodon. TecEvolution is the only dive centre in Pattaya (only two dive centres in thailand own two CCR units) to own its own two Closed Circuit Rebreathers. All the other shops rent them, there is only at TecEvolution that you will be able to learn to dive on a CCR and then dive that CCR with a CCR Dive Buddy, join us in the bubbleless world of silence !

What do I need to start a TDI Mixed Gas CCR Diver Course ?

  • Have a minimum certification of TDI Trimix Diver or equivalent (The course may be included at the instructors discretion)
  • Have verified a minimum of 100 logged rebreather hours
  • Have a verified number of logged dives at specific depths on the specific unit in question (Ask your TDI instructor for more details)
  • Have completed and qualified the TDI Air Diluent Rebreather Course or equivalent from agencies recognised by TDI
  • Be minimum age of 18 years

What will I do during that TDI Mixed Gas CCR Diver Course ?

During the dives (minimum of six) your Instructor will teach you all the necessary skills to conduct CCR dives utilizing helium as a diluent gas, the skills include:

  • Calculating off-board gas requirements
  • Recovering from system failure
  • Calibration of electronics
  • Emergency procedures
  • Removing and replacing off-board gases
  • Surface marker buoy deployment
The unit manual provides comprehensive information about the units and how they operate during a dive, this combined with the TDI Trimix Diver manual complete the academic knowledge needed to conduct mixed gas CCR.

Where can I go from there ?

What will I need ?

TDI Inspiration / Evolution Manual You will need the Unit manual, (which you already have from the basic CCR course ), and the TDI trimix Diver Book (not included in the price of the course)..
You will also need a bottom timer or computer (ideally a multi gas computer), a liftbag, and a reel (all of these are included in TecEvolution All Inclusive Traineeship Packages).

How Much Will This Cost ?

All TDI training materials and all the main equipment rental are not included in the price of the course. You will also need a bottom timer or multi gas computer, a liftbag, and a reel if you don't have any (these and your gases are included in TecEvolution All Inclusive CCR Traineeship Packages), and to pay for your gases (check out the price of the fills here). Luckily for you, TecEvolution is a trimix gas blending facility offers the cheapest Nitrox and Trimix fills in Koh Chang to its students.
