Technical Diving : Decompression Divers at the descent line

TDI Extended Range Technical Diving Course at TecEvolution Thailand

TDI Extended Range Diver Course, Why ?

Considered by many to be the one of the most challenging experiences for the recreational technical diver, the TDI Extended Range course provides the training and experience required to competently utilise air and Nitrox for dives up to 55msw that require staged decompression.

Extending your range doesn't’t necessarily mean diving ‘deep’, it can simply mean diving for a longer duration. Example: Performing a dive on a wreck in 30msw with a 60 minute bottom time.

This course builds on the fundamental knowledge base developed throughout the Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures courses. You will perform decompression dives that require accelerated staged decompression utilising air, Nitrox and Oxygen mixtures.

This course is well suited to be undertaken in conjunction with the TDI Trimix Diver course

What do I need to start TDI Extended Range Diver Course ?

What will I do during that TDI Extended Range Diver Course ?

Certain areas of the world provide spectacular dives at depths deeper than 39m/130 feet but you will not have access (or very limited access) to helium. The TDI Extended Range course teaches you the proper techniques for utilizing compressed air as a breathing gas and with a maximum depth of 55m/180 feet you won’t have to miss those dives. The Extended Range course will cover topics and skills such as
  • Equipment requirements and configuration
  • Decompression options
  • Use of surface marker buoys
  • Buddy rescue
  • Narcosis checks and management
Materials for this course include the TDI Extended Range Diving Manual and the US Navy or Buhlmann Air Decompression Tables (made of vinyl for easy in-water use and storage)

Where can I go from there ?

Graduates will be qualified to enrol in:

What will I need ?

You will need the TDI Extended Range crew pack, which includes student manual, planning slate and checklist slate, (this crewpack is not included in TecEvolution Course Prices).
You will also need a bottom timer or computer (ideally a multi gas computer), a liftbag, and a reel (all of these are included in TecEvolution All Inclusive Traineeship Packages)

How Much Will This Cost ?

All The main equipment rental is not part of the price of the course. You will also need to buy TDI training materials, a bottom timer or multi gas computer, a liftbag, and a reel if you don't have any (these are included in TecEvolution All Inclusive Traineeship Packages), and to pay for your gases (check out the price of the fills here). Luckily for you, TecEvolution is a trimix gas blending facility offers the cheapest Nitrox fills in Koh Chang to its students. Fills in Pattaya are slightly more expensive as they follow a local gas blending facility pricing.
