Technical Diving : Decompression Divers at the descent line

TDI Decompression Procedures Scuba Diving Course at TecEvolution Thailand, Koh Chang

TDI Decompression procedures Course, Why ?

The TDI Decompression Procedures course is suitable to two types of diver.

1. ‘Recreational’ divers can take the course to develop new skills and understanding
2. ‘Recreational – Technical’ divers can take the course as an integral component of their initial education. Whilst easily conducted as a stand alone programme it is often run in conjunction with the TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver programme.

This course examines the theory, methods and procedures of planned stage decompression diving. The objective of this course is to train divers how to plan and conduct a standard staged decompression dive not exceeding a maximum depth of 45msw unless taught in conjunction with the Extended Range course.

The most common equipment requirements, set-ups, decompression techniques and decompression mixtures (including Oxygen and Nitrox) are presented and will be discussed in detail by your TDI Instructor.

The course is available in Koh Chang, Pattaya and Bangkok (dive in Same San)

What do I need to start TDI Decompression Procedures Course ?

  • Have a minimum certification of Open Water Diver
  • Show proof of twenty five (25) logged open water dives
  • Be a minimum age of eighteen (18)

What will I do during that TDI Decompression Diver Course ?

As sport divers planned decompression is not something that we do or have been taught. The TDI Decompression Procedures course prepares you for planned staged decompression diving. With a maximum operating depth of 45m/150 feet, this course is your first step beyond the normal sport diving limits. Your TDI Instructor will provide you with valuable information and skills, among the topics covered are
  • Kit set-up
  • Equipment requirements
  • Decompression techniques
  • Decompression breathing gases
  • Gas management
  • Contingency planning
The TDI Decompressions Procedures course combined with the TDI Advanced Nitrox course form the foundation of all other technical courses.  After these two courses and some additional experience, the stage has been set for you to move onto additional technical levels. Some of the materials you will be using include the TDI Divers Guide to Decompression Procedures, US Navy or Buhlmann Air Decompression Tables (made of vinyl for easy in-water use and storage).

Where can I go from there ?

Graduates would be qualified to enrol in:

What will I need ?

You will need the TDI Decompression procedures crew pack, which includes student manual, planning slate and checklist slate, (this crewpack is not included in TecEvolution Course Prices).
You will also need a bottom timer or computer (ideally a multi gas computer), a liftbag, and a reel (all of these are included in TecEvolution All Inclusive Traineeship Packages)

How Much Will This Cost ?

All the main equipment rental is not included in the price of the course. You will also need the TDI decompression procedures crew pack, bottom timer or multi gas computer, a liftbag, and a reel if you don't have any (these are included in TecEvolution All Inclusive Traineeship Packages), and to pay for your gases (check out the price of the fills here). Luckily for you, TecEvolution is a trimix gas blending facility offers the cheapest Nitrox fills in Koh Chang to its students. Prices in pattaya are slightly more expensive and follow the local gas blender price list.
